Festival of Lights

Dad & Christy came over today and brought the boys and I to the Festival of Lights at Callaway Gardens. For those of you that don't live down here, the festival of lights is a Christmas light show of over 8 million lights. We had something like it at Springfield and I think I have to say that Springfield was better. You can drive your cars through or ride the trolley. We chose the trolley and OH MY GOD was it cold! Note to self, maybe if the temp is in the 30's an open trolley isn't the best choice for an hour ride. ;) The boys seemed to really enjot it until about 10 minutes from the end, like I said it was really cold but they were troopers. Jack however looked up at me with the saddest face and said, "Momma, my feet are frozen. I'm so cold. Maybe going to Maine isn't such a good idea." I told him a visit to Maine in the winter requires boots and so he should be okay!

Jack's Christmas Wish...

Jack's Christmas vacation started today and I asked him last week if he wanted to do something special today with Mommy. I told him I would bring Drew to school and it would be a Jack & Mommy day. We could do whatever he wanted. He chose his friends. Which was so cute. He told me he wanted to do something fun with his best friends. So that's what we did. Denver, Matthew and Carson came over and we made gingerbread houses, played tag, ate chicken nuggets and french fries (fruit too) played kickball with some other friends in the neighborhood and then we all headed to see Bolt in 3-D. I think they all had a great time and they were all really good. I, however am exhausted! I love that they're all in school together and I love that we all live in the same part of SummerGrove so they will change schools together. Merry Christmas Jack, Denver, Matthew & Carson, I hope you had as much fun as I did. ;)

Gingerbread Houses...I'm no builder!!

Well as you can probably tell from the picture, it did not go well. Yup, that's right...that would be the roof laying inside the house. Don't tell the boys, luckily it happened after they went to bed.
Jack make a house and Drew made a train. Drew's seemed to stay together better but once we propped some cardboard under the roof of Jack's it stayed...sorta. ;)
Anyway, it was fun and thats all that matters. How can you be upset when your tummy is full of frosting and candy? You really can't...

Jack's Christmas Show

Jack had his Christmas show today at school and did a great job! He played an elf and sat next to his friend Carson. They had a great time. After they were done, I took a picture of the "Fab Four" which consists of (from left to right) Denver, Jack, Matthew & Carson.
Jack was so excited for his show that he invited everybody. Family, neighbors, everybody...haha. So Neil, Angie, Bumpa, Christy and myself all were there to cheer him on. Dad and Christy left work to make the show and he was so happy they made it! Great job, Jack! I'm so proud of you!!

Parent/Teacher Conference

Well, today was the day that I had been stressed about for a few weeks now. Jack's Parent/Teacher conference. Why was I stressed? Well, he's been getting "yellow checks" a lot lately for talking and disrupting class so I was a little nervous about what his teacher was going to say.
Turns out he's brilliant! No, but seriously he's doing really well academically he just tends to be a performer/talker....hmmmm...wonder where he gets it. I was also told that he like to be the leader of the class. Although being a "leader" isn't always good when it means he "leads" the other kids into acting up too. That seems to be the main concern. When he's behaving they love that the other kids follow, but when he acts up it s a nightmare.
I guess I left the meeting thinking that if that is the only problem, life is pretty good.
Jack, you are a very smart little boy. The things you know at age 5 amaze me. I love you. xoxo

A Game of Catch and Release...

Andrew doesn't like to stay in bed. In fact, he gets up every night and comes downstairs. My Dad tells me that he must have gotten that from his Uncle Scottie. So, thanks for that, Scott. ;) Anyway, I'm sure all parents of kids that age get extremely frustrated by that around the 4th or 5th time, but tonight Drew said something that put the whole thing into perspective and it made me realize what a magical little boy he is and how much I truly love him. He looked up at me with those big blue eyes and said, "I try to sleep Momma, but my eyes can't want to."
Thank you, Andrew for making me smile everyday. I love you. xoxo

Frosty The Snowman

Frosty the Snowman came to Jack & Andrew's School on Friday and the kids loved it. Before Frosty came in they had a really great Magician that does a lot of shows in the area. The boys have seen him before and really seem to enjoy him.
Andrew was one of the helpers for a magic trick about frosty. He did a great job but apparently doesn't like to be in front of crowds too much. Are we sure he's my kid? ;)
Jack thought Andrew was hilarious and was cheering for him very loud. I was very proud of him!
I've been spotted...Am I going to be able to get out of there without a meltdown...yes, I was. Mission accomplished. Mommy sneaked out through the Pre-K room. ;) On a side note, why is my son the only child wearing a hat? Good question...he won't take it off. Wears it with his pajamas and as you can probably tell it's getting a little too small. I sure hope Santa brings a new green Sox hat because a blue one just won't do. Gotta love my little Red Sox fan!!

No Power?

To all our family and friends at home with no power...we're thinking of you! We hope it's all fixed soon. Feel free to come for a visit. It's been kinda cold here, but not Maine cold.
Also, Happy Birthday, Bumpa (my Dad) his birthday was Friday and he decided to go home and spend it with my brother. Good choice for a weekend to visit home, Dad. ;)

A Few More...

I forgot to add these last night and I really like them so here they are now. Jack with his Star Wars ornament and Drew with his Polar Express.
Both of them hanging their new ornaments first on the Christmas tree.
Drew thought he was hiding from the camera...no such luck, Drew! :)

"The Best Star EVER!!!"

We finally finished decorating our Christmas tree today. It took a while because Jack has been having a hard time behaving in school so each day he got a "yellow check" we had to push off decorating. I'll be honest I was getting kind of tired of a plain tree. Jack and Drew made the VERY LARGE star on the top out of a pizza box and tin foil. They love it! Every year I let them decide on a tree topper and apparently this year the Red Sox hat was not a good idea. ;) They each picked out their ornament of the year and Jack picked a Star Wars one and Drew picked Polar Express (I know, shocking. lol) So anyway, here is the finished product...they are very proud!
Jack wearing his hockey pj's made by Grammie Walker...so cute!
Drew was having a hard time understanding why some of the ornaments wouldn't stay on the branches. We finally figured it out..."Too heavy, Momma"

The Peterson's Come to Town...

Dan, Laura & Nathan came to visit last weekend and it was really great to see them. Nathan is getting so big and is crawling all over the place. The boys had a great time with "Baby Nathan". We miss you guys!

Drew wanted no part of picture time!!

The Boys Tent Out in Their Room

The boys thought it would be really fun to camp out in the Thomas the Train tent Drew got for his birthday. They ALMOST made it through the night, but as you can imagine it was very cramped in there!

And there is the tent...WAHLAH!!

Thanksgiving PLay

Here are a few pictures from Jack's Thanksgiving Play at school. I realized I had taken them when I downloaded the pictures from decorating the tree. Oops. Sorry for the delay. Enjoy!
Drew's class went to the play and here he is watching his big brother.
Jack's Pre-K class getting ready to take a bow! Great job, Jack!!
