Jack Walker Welch...Age 7...Check Up Complete!

Jack had his 7 year old well visit at the Doctor on Friday which came at a great time since we needed to have a follow-up for his eye anyway. He did great! Here are his stats...Height: 44.5lbs (14%); Weight: 3'11" (33%); Vision: 20/13 (AWESOME). So, as you can see he is a tad on the small side but is growing and the Doctor thinks he is right where he needs to be. I am always concerned about his size but he always reassures me that he is fine. "He will grow and will not be 3'11" and 44lbs forever! Don't stress about it. He is an active little boy." Good point. :)
So, as you can see his eye healed fine and his vision is great. He must have gotten that great vision from his mother. ;)
After the Doctor we went to get some ice cream and to the Halloween store for a little Mommy & Jack date. Although I have been informed I am no longer allowed to call them that. Can you believe it?!?! Anyway, Jack wants to be an Army guy but we are having the hardest time finding a costume that he likes. I hope we find one soon...I'll keep you posted!

Jack fought the straw and the straw won

Poor little guy! Jack was opening a straw on the table and he hit himself in the eye with it and ended up scraping his cornea. He's doing much better today after much medication and many hours of sleep (he slept until 10:45am. Thank you to the Hardegree Family for bringing Drew to school this morning so I didn't have to wake Jack up). His vision is fine and the swelling is gone but it is still pretty sensitive to light. The patch is off and he is playing Zingo with my Dad as we speak. So, maybe the straw didn't win after all... ;)

Southern Belle Farm

The Boys and I went to Southern Belle Farm with the Handley family on Sunday to enjoy the hayrides, pumpkin picking, corn mazes, and all the fun stuff the fall has to offer. It was soooo hot outside. As you can see the boys are in shorts and they were so sweaty and dirty by the time we got home. We all had a great time. The boys each picked a pumpkin, shot corn, and ran around like crazy. Jack would not let me take his picture, so enjoy all the pictures of Drew, he was all about it. I didn't have my camera because I'm having problems with it so these are from my Blackberry which are not the clearest, so I apologize.
Here's Drew hiding in the maze looking cute as ever

Drew loved picking cotton. He stuffed his cargo pockets full and said he was going to give it to Christy so she could sew him something. It was cute.

Yup, he's definitely my southern boy of the two. That plate has fried pickles, oreos, fries and funnel cake. All of which Jack would not touch. Add that to the cotton picking and he is VERY southern! LOL

Game 5...Yikes!

It was a tough loss on Saturday for the Rapids. Look at that face. He played his little heart out but they walked away with a 7-0 loss for the day! They have next week off and the boys and I will be out of town for Jack's 7th birthday the following weekend but Jack will be back in action on November 6. Stay tuned...

SuperHeroes make fish sticks in the microwave...

If you know me, you know I am the worlds worst cook. I would not survive without a microwave. I mean, Jack actually prefers his fish sticks in the microwave...enough said. So, tonight we all put on capes and masks to make dinner. Thursday is "Boys choice" night which was fish sticks, tater tots, corn on the cob and mandarin oranges (insert nutrition concern here...I know, I know. I don't want to hear it. It was boys choice night). So, my point is...everything looks and tastes better when you're wearing a cape and a mask. Happy Dinner. :) Mommy & Drew to the rescue

That microwave doesn't stand a chance...

Little & Hidey...Join the Family

Why, why, why do I do these things to myself. Oh, that's right because I AM NOT READY FOR A DOG!! As I am typing this I can hear them behind me in the toyroom running on their wheel (and the boys wonder why they couldn't stay in their rooms). Well, anyway, you guessed it...we got hamsters. two of them to be exact. Jack named his Little and Drew names his Hidey. They are dwarf hamsters so they are small so that would explain Jack's name and Drew's name is because he loves to hide in his house. They are so funny. They were super excites and are very cute with them. We got the ball for them to run around in and the boys get a kick out of that. The little guys get those things moving pretty good around these wood floors actually. So, welcome to the family, Little and Hidey! The Three of us are quite a bunch. ;) The boys with Little & Hidey's new home

That "Other Kid"...

So, if you have been following the blog you may have noticed that there has been a lot of talk about Jack lately. Soccer, school plays, loose teeth, etc. So much so that you might wonder what happened to that "other kid" lol
So, this post is for my little man, Drew. Let me tell you what's new in the life of Andrew Joseph Welch. He is currently 43lbs and is a whopping 3'7" tall (last time I measured...lol). His best friend is Nicklaus Smith. I make him an egg and cheese english muffin every morning for breakfast. He hates to get up in the morning. He still climbs in my bed around 4am and bed hogs my bed (although the last 2 nights he has not come in). His favorite movies are Star Wars. He has a pet Hamster he named Hidey because he hides and a fish named Dori. He loves to cuddle. He would wear crocs everyday if I let him. He likes to wear ties. He is in Pre-K at Discovery Point and his teachers names are Ms Beth & Ms Monica. He is slowly learning to write his name. He will do most anything you ask him to, but he needs to do it at his own pace. He wants to ride a horse. He hates to brush his teeth and would just rather eat the toothpaste. He can eat more pizza than Jack and I combined. He loves treasure hunts. He requests "Can't Touch This" everyday after we drop Jack off for the 1 mile ride from Jack's school to his school for his "Pre-School Mommy & Drew Jam Session" (Yes, it includes dancing and singing and is the perfect length for the ride). He can entertain himself. He is an amazing little boy and my life would not be the same without him. I love you, Andrew! xoxo

Zoo Atlanta

School was out on Monday so we decided to take the kids to the zoo. It was Margarita, Andres and Lucas. Jen and Regan. Jack, Drew and I. The weather was great, the kids were great and everyone had a really nice day. It was nice to get the kids together outside school. Jack, Regan & Andres were all in the same Kindergarten class together and fortunately Jack and Regan are together this year in 1st grade, but Andres changed schools so it was nice that Regan and Andres got to spend some time together.

Jack was a little jealous at first about sharing Regan. He denied it but I think this picture says it all...lol

Drew's favorite part was the flamingos

Game 4...WIN!

It was a 4-3 bittersweet victory on Saturday for Jack's team. He was excited to win but he played against one of his best friends, Matthew. Matt's Mom, Lisa and I got a kick out of the two of them on the field playing against each other. They were hilarious. The looks they threw each other when one got the ball or out ran the other...priceless! They have been friends since they were in daycare together so it is really fun to watch them grow into crazy little boys! Great game, Jack & Matt! Well Done! :)Jack & Matthew

Thank you, Jack!!

As some of you may know I started a new position on Monday. I changed Divisions at CDC and took a position as a Public Health Analyst at the Community Guide. (www.thecommunityguide.org) Take a look if you'd like. :)
Anyway, Jack asked me how my new desk was and I told him I hadn't had time to unpack anything from my old desk yet because I had been doing a lot of reading so my area was really kinda boring. When I picked him up yesterday from school he gave me this picture and he told he this picture was for for me to put up at my new office since it was Fall and I love Fall the most. "I even made you pumpkins, Momma!"
He was right. Fall is my favorite and that sweet boy made my space even better!

Fall Festival

The Boys and I joined The Naquin Family for a Fall Festival on Sunday and they got to enjoy their first hayride of the season. It was a beautiful day. We played outside, had great food and got our faces painted. Well, the kids did. :) The weather was gorgeous and in the high 60's. We are all happy fall is here! Here are a few pictures from the day. Game 3...Tie

It was a great game and we thought it was going to be a 3-2 win right up to the end but in the last seconds (literally) the other team scored and the game ended with a score of 3-3. They played a great game. Jack scored a goal and had a great assist to Cooper. We were short a player so he played a little more than usual so he was exhausted. We played in the 4:30 time slot which is I think good and bad. Good because they play in the shade, bad because it's 4:30 and they were a little tired. Regardless, they all did great and I'm really proud of all of them. It's really great to see them come together and work as a team over the past few weeks! Great game, Boys!
I told Jack to run upstairs when we got home and hop in the shower and when I went upstairs, this is how I found him...lol

Friday Night Movie Night

As some of you may know Friday night is usually Friday Night Movie night. Well, last night we watched a movie that was given to me as a gift from my CDC team as a going away gift on Thursday. I took a new position in a different division and start on Monday and the team that I worked with took me to lunch on Thursday and gave me a gift and also gave the boys a gift. Very sweet. So, we watched Ice Age Dawn of the Dinosaurs in 3D last night for our movie night. Thank you, Health Partners Outreach Team. The boys loved the movie! I'll miss you guys but I WILL NOT miss the on-call and Blackberry. lol ;)
