Summer Camp starts today!!

Andres, Drew & Jack getting dropped off for camp! The Boys are headed to YMCA camp for 3 weeks and are really excited about it! Today was the first day and I can't wait to hear about it tonight! Jack & Andres are in the same group, The Explorers and Drew is going to be joined by his friend and our next door neighbor, Jayden and they are in, The Firecrackers. I hope you boys have a wonderful time!! xoxo

So, this is the ride home after camp...I think they had a wonderful time! ;)

Verandah View Block Party!!!

I quite possibly live on the best street in the world! They are such wonderful people! It feels like everyday is a party because of the 20+ kids playing kickball in the street every night but this weekend we had our 2nd Annual Verandah View Block Party and it was a hit! The party started at 2pm with bouncy houses, tons of food and beverage, great music and ended, well...let's just say it was late! ;) Thank you for being such great neighbors and even better friends! You all make life for this single Mom so much easier and so much fun! Jack, Drew and I are fortunate to have all of you!! xoxo The Women of The View...

All American 5K - Go Jack!!!

Jack loves to run races and I LOVE that he loves it. He ran his first race last June with me (Payton ran with us too) and did great! He finished it in 38:39. He did his second race with his Dad last summer sometime and did it in around 35:00, I'm not exactly positive of his time. The reason that I am telling you this is because we expected to see them cross the line around 34-35:00 minutes so you know I was screaming and jumping up and down when I saw him and the clock read 29:33. He came sprinting by and turned and smiled a big smile and waved! His official time was 30:55! He was so proud of himself! I was so proud of him! So before you ask why I didn't run this one with him, here is the story. Angie gave Jack a pair of sneakers and a race registration for Christmas so they could run a race together because she knows how much he loves it. I was going to join them until Jack informed me that it was "their race" so I made a sign and jumped up and down like a fool instead! Angie and I are doing the Muddy Buddy in 2 weeks and Jack and a few of his friends are doing the Mini Muddy Buddy...So, watch for it! :) Jack racing to the finish line...his time was 30:55...Way to go, Jack!!

Jack and Payton...3rd place finishes for both!!

Welch Elementary 1st grade Yankee Doodle Honors Program

Today was the 1st Grade Honors Program at Jack's school and they did a Yankee Doodle Theme. They were all suppose to wear red, white or blue for the program because they would be singing Yankee Doodle. It was really cute. At the end of the program they signed God Bless America and it was fantastic. They did a really great job, but I have to tell you I was pleasantly surprised they let them do that song in the public school. Way to go, Welch Elementary!!

Now, on to the awards...Jack got the Citizenship Award (good conduct) again this year and like I told you last year, it is an award that is expected in our house so while I am very proud of him, I expect nothing less. He also got recognized for the Accelerated Reader Program. He got a ticket to Six Flags because he completed his 360 minutes of reading. Jack is a really great reader and is a really great student. I am so proud of him! Great job, Jack!! xoxo

The Cubs suffer their first loss...

The Cubs lost to the Indians on Saturday and what's even worse...Mommy wasn't there. My friend, Molly got married so I missed my first game of the season and as Drew said to his coach, "This is the first game my Mom has missed." Sorry, Buddy! You guys will do great on Thursday and Mom can't wait!! xoxo

Here are a couple pictures from Molly's wedding...

Cub vs Red Sox...Cubbies Win!!!

Does it really count as catching if you just like to wear the gear but not really go after the ball? :) Regardless, He looks cute and the Cubs won over the Red Sox 13-9 last night to maintain their undefeated season. Andrew got another coach pitch hit and he was super excited. We just need to work on running as soon as he hits it, I think he still gets so shocked that he stands there for a minute while we all yell, "RUN"...it's cute! Great job, Drew! I'm so proud of you!!! xoxo The Cubs take on the Indians on Saturday...stay tuned.

Andrew's Pre-K Graduation - May 15, 2011

Andrew's big day was on Sunday! He Graduated from Pre-K at Discovery Point! He has been at DP his whole life (minus the time Chella took care of him in NH...xoxo). Pre-K has been a really big year for him, he has matured tremendously over this past year and has learned so much from his teachers, Ms Beth and Ms Monica. I am forever greatful to everyone at DP for taking such good care of Drew, for taking such good care of both my boys. It makes going to work everyday much easier.

Andrew, you are an amazing little boy that has learned so much this year while having dealt with so much at the same time. I am so very proud of you and I look forward to watching you continue to learn and continue to become even more outstanding. Here are a few pictures of your Big Day and your many supporters, Buddy! Mommy loves you!!! xoxoAndrew during the ceremony

The Graduate

Saturday at the Fields...

Uncle Scottie got to see both baseball and soccer on Saturday. The Cubs played at 10:30 against the Rays and won 17-14. Drew got a coach pitch hit but we missed it because we had already left for soccer but Bumpa sent us a text and told us he finished up great! Great job Cubs! The Rapids were not so lucky, they lost 5-2, but Jack did score a goal and was super excited that Uncle Scottie got to see that. The Rapids finished up their season on Saturday and Jack is done until camp in June, a nice well-deserved break. Great job Jack & Drew! xoxo

Uncle Scottie Comes to Town!!

All my favorite Boys are together (minus my Gramps)...It was an exciting weekend for all of us...Uncle Scottie came to town!!! The boys and I were so excited to see him. We hadn't seen him since July and both Scott and I agreed it had been way too long, but sometimes life gets in the way. Doesn't mean I don't wish we could get home more often or vice versa. Anyway, Dad went to Washington DC about a month ago to see Scott, so it hadn't been so long for him! He got to town Friday and I was battling the stomach virus that Drew had so thoughtfully given me, but it all worked out okay because Scott and Dad had plans to go to the Braves game that night anyway. Saturday they headed over and we went to baseball and then soccer and just hung out for the rest of the afternoon/evening. Sunday we went to Andrew's Graduation, a celebration dinner and then we took Uncle Scottie to the airport so he could head off to Texas for work. We had a great time, Uncle Scottie! We miss you already!! Love you!! xoxo

Mighty Andrew at the Bat!

"Oh, somewhere in this favored land the sun is shining bright,
The band is playing somewhere, and somewhere hearts are light,
And somewhere men are laughing, and little children shout;
But there is no joy in Sharpsburg — mighty Drew has puked on home plate."

-Casey at the Bat by Ernest Thayer (with some minor edits...haha)

The Sharpsburg Cubs took on the Diamondbacks last night and took away a 18-11 win. Too bad Drew missed most of it. He got up for his first time at bat, took a couple swings annnnddd...threw up on home plate. Poor little guy. This obviously explains why you have no picture of his game. This win takes the Cubbies to 9-0 for the season. Next game is Saturday...stay tuned!

Way to go Cubs!!!

Rapids Soccer - Parents vs. Kids

Jack's last practice was last night and they made it a game against the parents. I was there for the first half before I had to leave to get Drew to his game (we'll talk about that later). Jack was excited about playing and told me to "Bring it, Mom". Let's just say in that short amount of time, it was "brought". :) I said, "Hey, little man, not only did you get scored on by your Mom, you got scored on by a girl." To say he was not pleased would be a gross understatement. Before you say I'm mean, let me be clear in what I teach my boys and what I believe...there are in fact winners AND losers, good sportsmanship is the most important, not everyone gets to play all the time and that's the way it is, and I don't believe everyone should get a trophy. I think kids need to learn to lose and be gracious when they do. Okay, I will get off my soapbox now...haha
Thanks for the great practice, Jack! Your soccer skills have improved so much this season and I truly love watching you play! You amaze me everyday on and off the field! xoxo

Braves Night Out with the Sharpsburg Cubs

The Sharpsburg Cubs headed out to Turner Field last night to walk around the field and watch the Braves play the Nationals. Although the Nationals beat the Braves 7-6, everyone had a great time and all the boys looked cute in their uniforms. Go Cubs!Drew posing in the bleachers during the game. One word...Punk.
A few of the Sharpsburg Cubs plus a couple big brothers (note the Red Sox shirt with the Braves hat).

Big Wins for Both Boys!! - May 7, 2011

Both boys played on Saturday and both boys won. The Rapids won their soccer game with a score of 5-3. Jack had a great game, he played hard and scored 2 goals. Great job, Jack! xoxo. The Cubs won 16-10 and Andrew got a coach pitch hit resulting in an RBI! Way to go, Drew! xoxo. Mommy is super proud of you both! My cute boys after Drew's game!
Drew the catcher!

Jack's "I'm tough" face...I think he may need to perfect it a little. :)

Happy Mother's Day!

Here is a picture of Jack and I with the cake he made for me at school. Publix comes on the Friday and does a Mother's Day cake program for the kids and guess who runs it? BUMPA!! Jack was super excited to be able to do that with him and I am happy that Dad gets to be such a big part of their lives! Thanks, Dad...Love you!!! I would have loved to put a picture of both my boys on here but Drew was not having any part of it. I can't really blame him. I have a camera in that boys face all the time.

Jack and Andrew, You are the two best things that have ever happened to me. You both amaze me everyday with the new things you learn and say and my world would not be complete without you guys. I am truly blessed and a better person because of you both. You have taught me to be strong, at the weakest of times just by smiling and being the amazing little boys you are. I love you and you are the greatest Mother's Day gifts anyone could ever ask for. xoxo

Mother's Day Breakfast at Welch Elementary

Every year Welch Elementary does a Muffins for Mom on the Friday before Mother's Day. This year we met up with some friends while we were there for breakfast and as Jack pointed out, they did not serve muffins, they served donuts...in halves. Jack enjoyed a half donut and some juice and I just enjoyed spending time with him and our friends! Thanks for a great breakfast, Jack! xoxoMommy and her favorite 7 year old!

Drew and the East Coweta Prom 2011

Andrew LOVES Taylor. He always has. He thinks she is the best person on the planet! When I told him Taylor was going to dress up like a princess for her prom he said he wanted to buy her a flower and he needed to wear a tie. I took it one step further and found him a tux on ebay ($20.99...gotta love ebay). He was so cute and Taylor looked gorgeous! She is such a pretty girl. Thank you, Taylor for letting Drew be a part of your pictures and your special day! You are an amazing young woman and I am so happy to have you in our lives! Thank you for always being so good to my boys!! xoxoDrew knocking on the door...
You can dress him up, but you can't take the crocs away...
